Conveyor Guides, Scrapers And Friction Plates: More Than The Sum Of Its Parts
|
The conveyor system has been an indispensable tool in making every assembly or production line faster and more efficient. But like any other invention it is more than the sum of its parts. Its components are what make it a reliable and versatile system which can be used in different applications. Conveyor guides, scrapers, and friction plates are just some of its components that make it adaptable when used in the mechanical industry. In its simplest form the conveyor system is made of a belt that is placed around two pulleys which loops endlessly. The pulley is powered by a motor which moves the belt. The conveyor belt then propels the material on it and transports it from one point to another. As the demands of industrialization increased modifications were made on the conveyor system so that it can be applied in different situations. There are different types of conveyor systems. Although they all have one main purpose, some of their components differ so that they can be applicable in different situations. Rubber conveyor belts are used to move materials with irregular bottom surfaces. Conveyors with flat pans or solid surfaces are used in food grade applications. Wheels, rollers, or slide rails are used on flexible conveyor systems. Tubes are used in pneumatic conveyor systems and move materials through the use of air pressure. Apart from this there are also new components added to the conveyor system to make it more efficient. The system has also conveyor guides, scrapers and friction plates to help in the production and assembly line. They also provide new solutions for a more efficient system. Conveyor guides or conveyor guide rails, as its name suggests guide materials along a conveyor belt. They are one of the most common components in a conveyor system which has been refined for better applications. They can be made of aluminum or stainless steel. They are most commonly seen in bottling plants. Manufacturers have made them weather resistant with low friction qualities for a smoother operation. Scrapers come in many sizes and shapes but they generally perform one function. As the name suggests they scrape off material. They can be attached to any machinery to scrape off dirt, debris or unwanted material during operations. It is utilized in truck mounted conveyor belts. They are used to clean rubber belts and remove excess concrete when discharged upstream during operations. Friction plates are generally known as part of clutches. They are most commonly used in vehicles for automatic transmission. They can be made of different materials. With the right application and concept they can be incorporated into a conveyor system. They reduce noise and facilitate faster and more accurate transportation of materials from one point to another. Shifting applications need a dynamic coefficient of friction to yield the right timing and a smooth operation. These are just some of the components that have been modified for a better conveyor system. Scrapers and friction plates are new components that have been added and serve as upgrades to the old system. Guide rails, scrapers and friction plates are just a few of many components that comprise an efficient conveyor system. Other materials can also be added for a complex but reliable system that provides simple solution. With quality components importers and manufacturers will be sure to have a return of their investment. Bucket Elevators - Transporting Flowable Materials Efficiently
By Carolyn Clayton
Bucket elevators are commonly used for carrying materials such as, fertilizer, grain, or other flowable materials that are in bulk. These products are hauled in a vertical direction, instead of a horizontal one. The entire mechanism consists of the buckets used to contain the material, a belt to carry the buckets, some form of motor or other means to get this belt to move, and any additional equipment needed to load the buckets with the material.
